Welcome to the Socash RV-7A website.

"It is possible to make engines for flying, a man sitting in the midst thereof, by turning only about an instrument, which moves artificial wings made to beat the air, much after the fashion of a bird's flight."
--- Roger Bacon, Secrets of Art and Nature, (circa 1250)

We are Richard "Rege" Socash and Connie Socash, a father-daughter homebuilding team based in Boulder, Colorado. Our goal is to build an RV-7A nose-wheel, two-seater side-by-side aircraft, and to have a lot of fun doing so.

In the beginning....

The discovery of our project came by accident while meandering around some hangers after Dad did a skydive at the airport in Longmont, Colorado. Running into some people working on a Vans RV-6, we learned that a homebuilt aircraft could be built for the price of an SUV! ( A very expensive SUV, we later discovered.)

Shortly thereafter, we attended the Rocky Mountain Regional Fly-In, where these intriguing aircraft fared well in number. After a long day of questions, the next step was a test flight (thank-you, John Stewart). Shortly after, we placed our order.

Over the course of the past five years of building this aircraft, we've had the participation of a number of guest riveters including family, friends, co-workers, and military Veterans. Some have taken rivets to far corners of the world: France, Mexico, the Arctic Circle, etc. Arriving back, and with a documented photo of their travels, they've been given a "permanent place" in our craft. To all of you, we thank you! ( It saddens us to say, however, that we still have yet to be privileged to have anyone from the Steelers defense put a rivet in our plane.)

If you are interested in adding to our traveling rivets cause by hosting a few of them on your own travels or if you just would like to see our project, let us know!

Enjoy this site. We've tried to keep it informative, interesting, humorous, and with difficulty, updated.

Connie & Rege

"To invent an airplane is nothing. To build one is something. To fly is everything."
--- Otto Lilienthal
