June 2007 - Solo Long Cross Country from Broomfield, Colorado to Las Vegas, New Mexico
It's June 2007, and I'm set to fly from Broomfield, Colorado down to Las Vegas, New Mexico for my long solo cross country for a commercial certificate. We start by flying over downtown Denver.
Passing Pueblo airport to our right.
It's not long after that the scenery changes to deslolate plains.
The GPS confirms we're just about there.
*Sigh* ...made it.
With the weather having been rather exceptional on this morning I decided not to push my luck and to instead press on with the rest of the flight to Trinidad, Pueblo and eventually Metro airport. Funny thing, though - with a tailwind going down to KLVS I managed a top IAS of 140+ kts. On the way back I think I was getting no better than 80 kts or so. Ugh.
